Rigs

Different styles of fishing require different rig setups, and while numerous standard combinations of sinkers, knots, swivel, rings, traces, and even floats, are suggested, it comes down to personal preference and what works best for you.

There are no rules, only suggestions, but the following should be seen as good principles behind a successful rig:

  • Use the lightest line practicable
  • Use the lightest sinker possible
  • Use the longest trace you can manage
  • Use the right hook for your target species

Hiya sory for the late update well here it is another fish buster fishing trip...at first it was jus me mirul n jai...we had a few bites but unfortunately we werent able to land the fish or watever is underneath the water... a few hours aftr dt edwin came and joint in the fish busting act...he was unlucky as well..we later then we decided to move to a different spot...then finally i was able to land to katambaks hehe...it looks like the nyt fishing goes to me...that nyt was me n mirul's last 'nyt fishing' as we are goin off to UK soon..till then we'll be fishing again in the near future...cheers!!

Here's another interesting trip..as usual the spot was batu marang and the nyt's crew were me,mirul, ros, edwin, jai and yui....we were testing out to see the effectiveness of using kirikans then rods...so here are the results:-

Jai caught - 1 Ungah (mangrove jack) and 1 mini-keratang (grouper)
Aizo caught - 2 katambaks

I caught 2 katambaks using rod and jai caught those two fishes using kirikans....it looks like kirikan was the winner...but i'll prove it wrong next tym on our trip...cheers pepol!!

Hello again...here's another exciting fishing at Serasa beach (Ungah garden)...the crew left to serasa early as usual, as soon as we arrived we cast out our baits...not long after that there was a quick pull from edwin's line and we thought ot was jus the current...but when edwin pulled his line to cek...there was a mangrove jack at the end of his line...the day ends with edwin being the only one who catch a fish...and it is his first mangrove jack...congratz bro!!

Baits used: sliced Mullet@kembura
Technique: kirikan with 50lb line

Last Tuesday the crew left early to kb to try our luck at Anduki. We went to tudung saji and had our breakfast there, we were suppose to eat the infamous "kuey teow" there but it was closed so we decided to eat at one of the restaurants there...After breakfast we went straight to Anduki...In short, we din catch anythin there so we went to Lumut to try and scrape sumthin there...the result, Mirul caught this small 'GT'..it was later released back into the water..overall it wasn't rily satisifying but we may try our luck again next time...

Greetings from the "bangas" team hehe...The crew left early today to one of our favourite spot @ pantai Serasa a.k.a 'Ungah Garden'...The team consists of 'The man' Aizo (Ckit bangas pasal nda btah tdur ku hehe), Jai (paling bangas pasal batah tdur nya haha), Edwin ( Meleleh air liur geng hehe kiddin) and pipi (Adang ko kn beckp cina sja ani haha)..

Method used for fishing were the old skool kirikans...target fish: Of course the mangrove jacks...Baits used were 'Rumahan' Fillet...The pic above were the results...A 1-kilo Mangrove jack caught by yours truly ehem ehem...and a grouper caught by pipi...another successful fishing trip..still looking for new fishing spots and hopefully we'll be able to catch new fishes to add on the crew's collection!!

Aloha pepol!! here's another exciting Batu marang trip...again the dynamic duo fuad and pipi caught a half-kilo gelama and a palm-size katambak...while another memeber of the crew Jai caught his second fish...a sembilang...while d rest of d crew were busy playing 'big 2' hahaha....

Greetings from the crew people...here it is another update on our last trips...i'll just guna cut it short...we came a bit late to batu marang around 10...at first we tried our usual spot, but no fish... then we moved to the 'Lagun'...the result was satisfying as mirul caught a sembilang weighing 1kilo...the biggest sembilang the crew had caught....Edwin also caught a 'katambak'...dt nyt i went home early wyl d rest continued to fish...unfortunately there weren't any more fish aftr dt...overall it was another succesful trip..congrats mirul n edwin

Hello people..here's another update on our fishing trips..that night we went fishing..yes that's right, at batu marang of course hehe...baits that was used were live 'karok' and live prawns...the results was good as one of us caught 2 fishes...it was Edwin who caught the fishes, a ketambak and a gelama...i've tried the live 'karok' and it was good, even tho i din catch nythin with it but one time there was a bite and the pull was rily hard that made my rod bent like a 'U' shape...unfortunately the hook din get thru the "criminal's" mouth...i'll try to use live 'karok' the next tym we go fishing again....

Info: Live 'karok' can be purchased at Tamu bandar friday morning just look for them.
