Empty sacks

.: the ringtone that we love to hear:..:Udang king size Salir a.k.a Megaprawns:..:Aizat intense for a fish bite:.
Last night, since we weren't that occupied with stuffs and we had nothing to do anyway, the crew decided to go for a night heist again...it was raining the whole afternoon and we hoped for it to stop so that we can go to one of our other spots at Batu Marang. It's been a while since we went there to busts ourselves some fish....we thought it might be nice to fish there again. But eventually, its started to rain again so we had no choice but to go to Sg. Bunga instead. It was just the three of us, the usual trio of me aizo and salir. we went down to bandar to get ourselves some prawns...we had a lil trouble of gettin prawns that we need in the sense of getting the right size...so eventually we just bought the king sized prawns, or you might say Megaprawns, the leader of the decepti-prawns haha just another inside joke on the trip.......Nways we went to the fishing site and already there were a lot of anglers there to our suprise, so we just continued on fishing there since it was raining. We deployed our gears and started our mission.....We were there from about 9pm, luck wasnt on our side as none of us caught anytin eventho the the 'sweet' tones from our bells kept ringing at times....sapa kn punya idea nie kcni...baik plg serasa ni hehe..... some of the other anglers there did manage to rig some fishes up, ada jua pesawat terbang RBA naik oleh dorang a.k.a utik haha .......about 1245am the crew was getting tired and sleepy...so we decyded to call it a day a wrap up the trip...again empty handed....I guess the megaprawns were much powerful for the fishes to handle.....hehe......Oh well, better luck nex tym der I guess.....

Anduki trip

Ngalih udh......

Packed up and end of trip

Salir's victim face covered with the Jamaican beanie
Salir playing around with his lure
Aizo with the Kerapu.....Awu tau kami you scored last night and you did too today
The fishing spree goes on hehe.....The following day after the night heist in Sg. Bunga and Serasa we took another road trip to Anduki to cast our lucks on catching anything with our casting lures. Aizo, me and Salir began our trip after my tutorial class at 1pm picking me up at UBD. Our very own Doraemon (Salir) drove in this trip as both me and Aizo were still rather drowzy after the fishing outting the night before....sleep sleeep.....but we still mend our fishing spirits to go on this trip haha.....We arrived at Anduki at about 2+....upon arrival, we spent time setting up our gear and then soon started of our casting 'journey' all over the spots found in Anduki. At one of the spots, Aiz0 launched his first cast and immedietly got a bite which he reeled in quite a big Kerapu...haha we weren't even there for an hour yet and he already caught sumtin....luck was on his side again at Anduki....the fish really love him there haha......we continued on to fish as the early catch was a motivation for us which made us withstand the immense afternoon heat....Tiring but yet with high spirits we dwelled on casting at every spot we knew and Salir and I had our hopes to catch an Ungah haha...Aizo almost lost his lure this time as his line snapped too...the 12lb line again...but luckily he managed to retrieve back that lost lure later on when he casted at the same spot again....we ended the trip at about 630, we packed up and head for home with satisfaction eventhough with Aizo the only one catching a fish....Overall the trip was succesful....at least we didn't come back empty handed.....

Usual fishing spot

The Fish
The next night after our dry break at Serasa, we decided to have a night out fishing again. The second time over a long period of not having it. The crew for that night's heist at Sg. Bunga was Aizo and myself, with Salir left out of the roster with other personal activities to do. Eventually, Zulfadli, Nazirul and their friend, only known as 'Bajau' came along and added the depth to our crew. Me and Aizo set off about 9ish to get some live prawns for bait. Then we met the rest of the crew at Sg. Bunga.....the weather was fine and the tide was ok, it was a really good night for fishing. We started to cast our lines with hopes of hooking a fish.....Salir did come by to check up on us at some point being there. The long await resulted to no avail at all. None of us caught any fish there so someone suggested us to move our fishing spot. Aizo suggested Serasa beach might be the ideal place to get some bites. So about 12am we packed up and took off to Serasa. We arrived at Serasa about 1230+ and we immedietly deployed our lines with the live baits. Hehe....That's what you call fishing spirit I guess.....we sat down chattin with each other and enjoyed the sea breeze and the great ambience of the beach while waiting for any bites from any fish or watever creature we can scrape from the sea....I actually enjoy fishing at night at serasa since it was our first time doing so at night despite the dark conditions or maybe its just because i love and enjoy being at the beach with its breeze so refreshing. Nways, back to fishing (Damn Mir you n your moments), we got a lot of fish bites here luckily this time haha....but the hard part was trying to land the fish as the waters nearby was filled with rocks where the fish might get lodged up in between them and out lines get tangled up and get stuck on them. Aizo and I brought our castig rods along so we also plunged our lures in the water hoping to get bites from them too. We lost most of our sinkers there and not to mention the fish too.I lost my lure to the open water after my 12lb line snapped mysteriously. Unfortunately, we had a low stock of fishing supplies which unabled some of us to continue on. Despite supply shortage, the trip was considered succesful with aizat getting that fish,a Tambak or Bebarahan, well ntah ah... I dunno which to call it anyway...anyone can help me? We finally wrapped up and ended the night out at about 3am. It was indeed enjoying and I'm hoping for another night out at Serasa....

ps : guys we really need to resupply

Dusk casting

The long await for a bite effect

Last monday afternoon we went to Serasa for another casting session. Aizat, Razi and Salir went earlier then I did so they were already there about 530ish. I came there about 6 coz I had a class before that which ended at 530. Anyways, about the trip, it was another dry trip that time. None of us caught any fish with our casting lures and not even any nibbles. With the kirikan and kembura Razi had some nibbles but no fish was landed. Eventhough there were some splashes from the fishes in the water but not one bite on our lures, I guess they're too full to devour and get seduced by the enticing scents and looks of the lures and bait that we had that day. It's fishing, haha it's luck. Better luck next time right 'girls'. haha....... The trip ended a bit early...due to the rain....Hopefully, on the next trips ahead we'll catch something.

Today my bro razi went fishing with his friend accompanied by his frind's grandad...they went fishing near jerudong beach on a boat..they left early morning...here are the pics of that fishing trip...with the catch of the day - AYAM LAUT hehe

The Lates calcarifer, otherwise known as the great Barramundi or its other names, the Giant Perch is one of the native saltwater fishes that are found in Brunei waters, as us Bruneians would call it, Selungsong. They feed mainly upon smaller fishes, molluscs, small crustaceans and even aquatic insects. They can grow up to 2 metres in length and an estimation of 60kg in weight. They have pale a grey-green look with its large scales shimmer having that copper-like shimmer. They basicly live in river creeks or mangrove estuaries woith large catchments of slow moving continuous water with about temperatures of 20 degrees celsius. They usually prefer submerged logs, rock ledges and other structures that are in the water as their selection a their hideout or habitat. In Australia, the Lates calcarifer has a reputation as being the finest eating fish, with various types of dishes usually with prices to match the type of dish they are cooked into. Nevertheless, they are also well-known targets for anglers not only in Australia but also here in Brunei. They response well to lures either cast or trolled. Bright metallic gold or bronze are particularly popular lure colours for these feisty creatures . Livebaits can also be used such as the mullet, prawns and even shrimp. Usually anglers practice the sports fisherman method of catch and release but here in Brunei its quite a keeper if you get one of these, bring them home and cook them up however you want it, you'll feel that feeling of an "anglers success".
ps. Never forget to take a picture of you and your prize catch hehehe........

The Red Queen is a Baitcasting rod and reel combo. The rod is a berkley Cherrywood 5ft 6inch while the reel is a Banax Armis 600. The Red Queen is equipped with a 15lb powerpro braid with an additional 20lb Xzoga mono leader. From the name itself the Red Queen is red in colour. At the end of the line, a Strikepro magic minnow ready to attract those fish. Red Queen is an ideal fish hunting gear and catch any medium to large size fish.

The Blue Rose is the muscle of fighting the fish. It is a spinning rod and reel outfit where the rod is a Rapala sportsmen classic with a Surecatch advance reel mounted on it. The reel on the Blue Rose comes with a two barrel. The main Barrel of the spool is filled with a blue 12lb Tomman line. Then as the going gets tough the other Barrel filled with a Sufix matrixpro braid 30lb will certainly pull up the biggest of fish. With an additional 20lb and 40lb mono Xzoga leader for each lines, no toothy predator can cut the line. A yozuri magnet minnow adds on to the magic touch of the Blue Rose to entice those strikes.

These two casting rods are my favourites. The set up for these two are already perfect.
For more info on how to set up a casting outfit feel free to ask Aizo :)

No Fishing tackle shop to go?Want to survey more of those fishing gears?then Chop Soon Khang Tackle shop will be your next destination. This tackle shop is located at Seria (I'm not sure about the name of the building all i know is it is where Jolibee is hehe). Like other tackle shops, This shop has more fishing accessories to offer ranging from rods to lures and other essential items that is essential to fishing trips. For me, after going to many tackle shops so far the best one would be this place because of the very wide range of fishing equipments especially the lures which is in abundance. Overall on the pricings of the gears they are not too costly compared to the tackle shops. I bought my new berkley rod which is cheaper than the one that has been sold at fred's fishing tackle. But the only drawback is that this tackle shop is located in Seria, KB which is far from Bandar so anyone who wishes to look for cheaper and branded fishing equipments visiting this tackle shop is a must. Happy shopping Anglers!!!

Bored...

was being bored at home...went surfing arh youtube about fishing hehe..just check it out...

Fishing Store

X gear fishing shop

This is my very short review of this fishing shop we found in Miri, its called X-Gear. It is located right across to the Boulevard shopping complex and found near to Shiki Japanese restaurant. various kinds of fishing gears are sold here ranging from the rods, spools, lures and other fishing neccesities and even camping gears are also available. the fishing products brands available range from Toman to the most popular fishing gear Daiwa, Rapala, Penn, Shimano, Abu Garcia and many others. So any anglers out there, when you come to Miri be sure to check out this shop I'm sure the prices are reasonable and cheaper compared the prices here, well at least for us Bruneians though hehe......

The trip to Miri was finally in place yesterday. Initially, the line-up casts for the trip was suppose to be Aizo, Ros, Salir and myself, but due to reasonable reasons, Aizo and Ros couldn't continue on with the plan ....YOU TWO STILL OWE ME A TRIP TO MIRI hehe.....at first we were doubtful of carrying on with the plan but since it my car was at stake here for the trip, so me and Salir finally decided on going...hey why not?....
we set out early like around 8ish, well if thats what you can call early tho. Salir lgi ahir bangun tu and I couldnt jus let him take charge of the wheels for the journey from our place to KB, menguap sja bh ia....so I drove all the way to KB so that he can continue with his beauty sleep. I expected the journey was going to be a quiet one due to this but suprisingly Salir's talkative side came out and the trip was lively full of laughters. Unexpectedly, during the journey, Salir let off one of his random moments, he came up with his own version of the song "Don't Cha" sung by the Pussycat Dolls. It came out off him so randomly after that song was played on my player and he really got me laughing out of my seat all the way from Telisai till Sungai Tujuh. We finally got to Miri around 10 with substituting Salir to drive in Mri. Just upon arriving to the urban areas, Salir quickly hinted me to find that "welcome to Miri" sign n take a picture for this blog...but haha the sign was no where to be found and all we saw was a round-about sign which looked like a recycling sign and 90km/h speed limit sign ( kalau d brunei ada kn baik ). Anyways, on with the trip, we had a pretty good start of finding our way at first with the damn roads there, eventually, Salir with his 'marvelous' navigation led us to all kinds of destinations, going the wrong way, making wrong turns and missing few junctions, which at one point he drove us right into an area vast with a 'housing' area for the dead....Tanah perkuburan org Islam and on the other side of the road kubur org Cina. At least we found ourselves to those shopping complexes there. Went to Parkson, ate at Mc'D and bowled, then Imperial, Boulevard n back to Imperial again...The driver was really and impatient when it comes to park...you can hear curses flying evrywhere when he scourages for a parking spot....mati eh mental nda penyabar anak sorang ani. During the period in Miri, we noticed that their traffic lights had a U-turn green light on them which really got my attention. I mean wow, didn't actually know that it existed.....mcm kalau d Brunei ada catu bh it wud be nice....well if see the picture below, I think that the traffic could possibly be telling us to go right and make a U-turn ahead haha....another thing there was that all this tym I tot that Malaysian police cars are Protons unlike our Police here back in Brunei who get the luxury to drive modified Fortuners, Vios and even a Skyline GTR patrol cars, but Miri police had a small cute car probably a Kancil or a Kelisa as their patrol cars.....we made a mission to get a picture of it...however, everytime we had the chance the patrol cars kept going all the other directions that we were going. sakai kli kmi ani first time mliat haha ....I mean it really amuses me to see it...imagine you were stopped by one of these cars or probably they had to deal with a crime in place, will these offenders and criminals be afraid when they see this cute car? what if there was a car chase, would it even be able to catch up with the other cars haha No offence to the Miri police tho but get yourselves some new modified cars which at least could raise fears on the offenders that they might not escape or probably at least freak them out with its rugged but psychologically causing fear look haha Kalau nya c Ros nie mesti 'garang' usul krita ahh...haha i really like that term...continuing with the story, Salir had another moment of randomness again when he tried crossing a car with a motorcycle exhaust pipe. Ever wonder how a car would sound with motorcycle exhausts put on them, ask Salir tau ia tu cana bunyinya haha.... we went almost everywhere there, bought few stuffs and we did had good laughs out of the trip...we finally went back to Brunei around 5 0'clock..and that ended our trip haha....it was a fun trip tho, it could've been more fun if Ros and Aizo did come along. maybe next tym boys....and this tym Salir's bringing his Mazda....my flying dutchmen made the day possible and Lir your's is up next on the line...and really cool song u got there....

We're in Miri

"Nah kn lurus bah...Daddy's alwez right..."

"That way Lir...You're going the wrong way again..."

"S**%$#!!!!"

"Mental driver ku ani, baik th ku drive nah..."

wish had some of these in Brunei
